Tiki Party & My Digital Studio

This past Saturday, July 10, 2010 I had a "gathering" at my house....approximately 60 people!!  Everyone is always telling us how much they love our Tiki Hut so I thought we would have a party in honor of it!  lol   Back in June I created the invitation using the Stampin' Up! stamp set - Tropical Party. Here is the invite!

I went all out with decorations, games and contests.  My awesome husband, Paul, made us an official limbo game and our guests had a ball!  Here is a photo of the limbo winner!...my neighbor Lisa.

The hut itself was built by my husband Paul and I back in 2006.  Although we have had a few "get togethers" sitting at the Tiki Hut and enjoying a fire with a few close friends, we have never had anything of this magnitude.  Here is the "Hut" before any of the guests arrived!

In addition to the limbo, we had "trophies" for the best Island Attire.  This was probably the most fun of all!  Check out the outfits of these dudes!

The dude with the big straw hat got 1st place!!  He was absolutely adorable!!  He wore his hat, glasses, shirt, and grass skirt ALL day and night!  Congrats Tony!  You are a great sport!  Can't wait to see you next year!

As for the My Digital Studio portion of this posting... when everyone arrived, I took their photo at my "Photo Spot" and I have now created a 12 x 12 commemorative page/photo for each couple that came to the party!  Here is a sample!

It was a great time and plans are already under way for next year's bigger and better bash!  I have already designed next year's invitation!!! lol

Scrapbooking with Stampin' Up!

Scrapbooking with Stampin' Up! Products

A couple of weeks ago I posted a My Digital Studio video that contained a wedding albumn that I created for a good friend of mine's daughter.  Today I thought I would follow-up with the finished albumn and a couple of the 3-D pages that I included in the albumn!  The albumn itself is a SU! product.  It is the 12 x 12, 3-ring, Natural Linen albumn.  The cover has been decorated using the Sizzix Serif Alphabet and chipboard.  I used a sponge dauber and Early Expresso ink to color the letters!  The berries were actually on the table at the wedding for decoration!  I figured she wouldn't mind if I "borrowed" some...after all, she did get them back! lol

This double page layout includes both the shower and wedding invitations and a family picture taken the day of the shower!  Pictured in the 5 x 7 photo are the bride to be along with her mom and dad (ironic thing is... her mom and dad were in my wedding party and both my husband and I were in theirs!)

The final section of the album was done so that she could scrapbook their first year as a married couple.  I included pages for winter, spring, summer & fall, as well as Valentine's, Easter, and Christmas!  can't wait to see what she fills them with!

Motorcycle / Diamond Plate Background

Motorcycle
Diamond Plate Background (BigShot)

Today's sample was created for a Man's Swap that I am signed up for at Convention!  I created this card using Pacific Point, Basic Black, and Whisper White cardstocks.
In addtion to the cardstock, I used good 'ol Reynolds aluminum foil to create the background!  I used one of my texture plates and my Big Shot machine and voila!  Here is a close up of the background:

In addtion to the paper/foil, I used the stamp called Motorcycle - Item #117657 - $8.95, the Scallop Oval Punch - Item #119856 - $16.95, and the Large Oval Punch - Item #119855 - $15.95.  The inks are Basic Black, and Pacific Point.

Sense of Time - Vintage / Distressed

Sense of Time

I am participating in a Vintage / Distressed swap at the SU! Convention in a couple of weeks and wanted to create something original and really "old" looking!  This is what I came up with!  I LOVE it!  I love it so much, I created an extra one so that I can send it in to SU! for next months WOW ART contest!  (I'll keep you posted on that!)

I started this card with Naturals Ivory cardstock.  I then used the background stamp called en Francais and versamark ink.  I followed this with clear embossing powder over the script and used by SU! heat tool to set it.  Once this was cooled down, I used my brayer and the new Krumb Cake ink and covered the card being sure not to do it perfectly.  Remember, I want it to look old and worn out.  Next, using Stazon black ink I stamped the cog pieces from the stamp set - Sense of Time - Item #113804 - $22.95 all over the card.  Using SU! new DSP called "News Print", I tore a strip and distressed it using a sponge and the Krumb cake ink.  Using another piece of the DSP and Stazon ink, I stamped the clock face and cut it out. I stamped the face again on Natural Ivory and punched out (using the 1" circle punch) the seconds circle and mounted it with dimensionals.  I used a 5/16" neutrals brad in the center.  After assembly, I used the Log Cabin Smootch Spritz to really make it look old!  The entire project was also sponged with Krumb Cake ink!

All A Flutter

Beautiful Butterfly!

If you have been following my blog for a little while, you probably have noticed that I really like butterflies!  I promise that this will be the last butterfly that I will post for a little while!  lol  This card was created by Judy B., one of my customers from Moosup, CT.  I love black and white and I am happy that she shared this with me!  Thanks Judy!
