Because I Care

Here is a beautiful monochromatic card courtesy of my downline member, Megan S. from Plainfield.

She created this card for a recent downline swap that we did.

The base of the card is done with Crumb Cake cardstock and then layered with Soft Suede and another layer of whisper white.  You will notice the our natural hemp matches the crumb cake cardstock perfectly!

To add a little flair she used the Scallop Oval punch, the Beautiful Wings embosslit and her paper piercing tool!

Remember, this stamp set is only available to hostesses!

Enjoy!

Today's sample is courtesy of one of my customers, Madonna, from Plainfield, CT.

It is a great example of what you can do with your scraps of Stampin' Up! cardstock!

She created the base of the card using whisper white cardstock and then cut two additional layers.  The first in burgundy and the second in basic black.  Her final layer is the focal point of  the card.

Using scraps of night of navy cardstock and yo-yo yellow (retired) she created the candles.  They are embellished with some narrow red ribbon (non SU!) and a simple sentiment finishes it off!

Great job Madonna!  Thanks for sharing!

Mother & Daughter Big Shot & DSP Samples

"Mom" - Linda's Card

Today I have another mother and daughter team that are part of one of my clubs.  Although both of the cards are using retired SU! colors, I still thought the ideas were ones you would enjoy.

The first card is "mom's" .  She used some DSP and stamped on it!  How many of you actually stamp on your DSP?  Most of us usually use it as a layer or a background only.  After stamping her flowers, she cut them out and used dimensionals to raise them up!
"Daughter" - Chris' Card

The card on the right belongs to "daughter" Chris.  She is a member of two of my clubs!  A regulary montly stamping club and my quarterly Big Shot Club.  At our last Big Shot gathering I showed the group how to use tin cans (soda or beer) and run them through the big shot using the Bigz or X-Large Dies.  Chris decided to try the idea using and embossing folder!  I LOVE it!!!  She really LOVES her big shot!!!  Don't you Chris?

Thanks for sharing girls!

Have a Blast!

Today's card is courtesy of own of my downline, Karen, from Rhode Island.  I just love this!  She is known for her extremely detailed projects.  I am sorry to say that I do not know the name of the stamp set she used. :(  Shame on me!  I believe it is a retired set; however, I just had to share this with you.

The card is made with Bashful Blue cardstock and the first layer is basic black cardstock with the Polka Dot embossing folder used for the background.  She used her circle cutter to cut out the moon and then used another embossing template (non Stampin' Up!) to create the texture of the moon.  She sponged additional color on the moon to give it dimension.

Wicked Cool

Today's featured project is courtesy of one of my friends and downline, Marlene W.  She created this card for our recent downline meeting swap.

The card base is basic black cardstock.  It is layered with rich razzleberry and whisper white.  She used the Eyelet border punch and the scallop oval and large oval punches.  The featured stamp set is called Wicked Cool and can be found in the 2011 Idea Book & Catalog on page 23.

Elements of Style

MOOSUP MOM & DAUGHTER PROJECTS

Created by Judy B. - Moosup, CT (Mom)

Created by Tammy S. - Moosup, CT (Daughter)

Today's cards are courtesy of two of my coffee clubbers!  They happen to be mom and daughter.  Great minds think alike, don't they?  On the left is Judy's (Mom).  Her colors are basic black, whisper white, and real red.  She made great use of her Scallop border and corner punches, as well as her Square Lattice Embossing folder!  She used the Elements of Style stamp set as well as the All A Flutter Butterfly!

Tammy's (daughter) card is on the right and uses Whisper White and Soft Suede.  She used the Eyelet Border punch and look at that beautiful ribbon.  I didn't know we sold that ribbon in Soft Suede????  Wait a minute, she used the Organza ribbon and the Soft Suede classic ink pad to dye the ribbon!!!  She finished the card off with the home-made smootch spritz we concocted out of Shimmer Paint and Rubbing Alcohol!

Great job girls!  Thanks for swapping with me!

Lake George Road Trip

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO ME!!  & PAUL!!!
Today, August 22, 2010 is our 23rd Wedding Anniversary!

In case you are wondering why I missed a day of posting...it was because I was on a motorcycle road trip up to Lake George, NY.  I'm going to share a little of my trip with you so that you will see some of the beauty that I did and meet some of the best friends a gal could have!  Special thanks to Joan and Tim (aka Hazel) for the mapping out of the route for the trip!

It all started on Wednesday, August 18, 2010.  We left home at about 7:30 am and headed north to pick up the first couple, Bart & Sue.  We then proceeded to meet Joan and Tim.  We ventured on every back road you can possibly imagine.  We finally arrived in Lake George after 4:00 pm.  This first picture is the view from our motel room.

Since most of the day on Wednesday was spent travelling, we decided to park the bikes and explore the Village of Lake George.  We visited Duffy's Tavern and enjoyed some burgers and beer.  We hit a couple of other hot spots in the village and then meandered back to the motel.

Thursday morning we rose to another beautiful sunny day and a 100 mile ride up to Ticonderoga and the surrounding area.  Here are a few pics:

Tim, Joan, Bart, Sue, ME, hubby Paul

After our 100 mile journey, we stopped at a butt-kickin' BBQ restaurant called the Barnsider and enjoyed a scrumptous BBQ meal.  We then headed back to the hotel to have a party on the deck.

Me Sue & Joan

Bart, Tim & hubby Paul

Every Thursday night there are fireworks on the Lake and we had front row seats!

Friday was a full-day of riding home.  We decided to take a real scenic route and wound up driving on the Mohawk Trail.  It was some of the most beautiful countryside I have ever seen!  We stopped at the summit and posed for one last pic!

So, I am now home from Lake George, NY!  To sum it up....

642 miles, 5 Restaurants, 4 Harleys, 3 Couples, 2 Nights, 1 Awesome Trip!!  Life is good!

Batty For You

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Halloween will be here before you know it!  I wanted to use my new Bitty Bat Punch so I created a card to use it on!

This card is VERY simple stamping and one that I consider monochromatic.  The card itself is made from Very Vanilla cardstock.  The focal point is a Very Vanilla square, layered with a Basic Black square and then the stamped image punched out with the 1-3/8" circle punch!  It is adorned with the wide black and vanilla striped ribbon and it is completed withe the Bitty Bat punched out of Basic Black cardstock.  I did a small bend on either side of the "body" and adhered it to the card!  I'm working on some more creations with the bat punch!  Keep your eyes open!

Fast and Fun Notes

Today's card is a creation of one of the newest members of the Stamp-Patty's Team; Jane from Thompson, CT!  She created this card from So Saffron cardstock and embellished it with some of SU!'s Designer Series Paper and buttons!  The focal point was stamped using the Fast and Fun Notes Stamp set.  Her coloring is awesome!  If you look really closely at his overalls, you will see that the patches are shiny!  She used crystal effects on them!

Thanks so much for sharing Jane!

Just Believe

Here is another card that you will need your Stampin' Up! Heat Embossing Tool to complete!  This is the card that I have created for my Founder's Circle swap!  I have to make 135 of them!!!!  Anyone want to help?  lol

The base of the card is Basic Black Cardstock.  I added a layer of Concord Crush and used the SU! emobssing folder called Vintage Wallpaper.  The focal point utilizes the Just Believe stamp set.  I stamped it in white ink and used white emobssing powder!  The other colors include Daffodil Delight and Tangerine Tango

Friends Never Fade

Technique - Emboss Resist

Today's card was created using the Friend's Never Fade stamp set and a technique called emboss resist.  You may recall, this is the same stamp set that this month's card kits utilize!  This sample is made using Early Espresso,  Pear Pizzazz, and Baha Breeze cardstocks.  As well as one of the sheets of Greenhouse Gala Designer Series Paper.  The focal point is stamped on Glossy White cardstock with VersaMark Ink and then covered with White Embossing Powder.  Using a sponge dauber, I sponged Early Espresso, Pear Pizzazz, and Baha Breeze inks around the image.  I used a tissue to wipe off excess ink and blend it all together!  The words at the bottom come from a new stamp set called Word Play.  The scalloped piece in the middle of the card was created using the new Scalloped Ribbon Border punch!
