Ketchican, Alaska - One amazing place!

Hey friends!  Today, Sunday, May 22, 2011 we arrived in Ketchikan, Alaska!  This was the one day that we were torn on what excursion we were going to take!  The debate was between snorkeling in the Pacific Northwest or going on the Deadliest Catch Boat!  .... of course going to the Bering Sea on the Deadliest Catch boat won!  Anyone that knows my hubby Paul knows how much he LOVES crab legs!  He also is a huge fan of the The Deadliest Catch show!  I could not let this opportunity pass him by!  We boarded the boat and headed off for an amazing adventure!  In addition to the crabbing, we got an awesome view of the bald eagles in their natural habitat!

After our morning on the Aluetian Ballad, we visited the town of Ketchikan.  What a well kept little city!  They even had a Harley Davidson store!  Got Paul a great shirt and off we went!

After getting back on the ship, we enjoyed another great meal in the dining room (there certainly was no shortage of food!).  When we returned back to our room our nightly pillow gift awaited!  We actually received a claim ticket and had to wait until the next day to get them!  We were each treated to a pair of Maui Jim's polorized sun glasses!
As if Alaska is not inspirational enough, I've got some card inspiration for you too!

........ Until tomorrow!

MDS Monday - Red, White, & Blue....

Well, a very happy Memorial Day to you all!  I want to take this time to express my sincerest thanks to those that put their life on the line every day to protect us and make this country the strength and powerhouse that it is!  Without all of you we would not enjoy the freedom that we have!

Today's MDS Monday theme is Red, White, and Blue.  I not only created my sample in MDS but I also took the time to create it on paper because I wanted to express my thanks double fold!

I used the awesome stamp set called Strength & Hope.  It can be found on the back cover of our Summer Mini catalog.  It is available in both wood and clear mount!

During this Memorial Day, take the time to say thank you to a veteran or someone that is currently serving in our US Military.  They are working extremely hard to preserve the freedoms that we all enjoy!
To those that have fought the battle and did not make it back - thank you for your sacrifice.  I wish much strength, hope, and peace to those families!

Until tomorrow!

Let the Alaskan Adventure Begin!!

Hey everyone!  Oh how I have missed blogging for you!  Sorry that I haven't been able to have my daily posts but the cost of internet usage on the ship was almost a dollar a minute and it was slower than a turtle with my suitcase on his back!

I can not even describe the natural beauty that I experienced on this trip!  We began our trip in the port of Seattle.  This is the view from the upper deck of the boat.

We set sail from Seattle on Friday, May 20, 2011.  It was a very long travel day getting there so I was really glad that our first full day on the boat was spent at sea.  Stampin' Up! planned plenty of things for us and there certainly wasn't a shortage of things to do on the ship.

Our welcome event took place and we were greeted by a giant ice sculpture with the word Alaska / Stampin' Up! carved out of it!  I was able to hook up with some friends and get our trip started right!

Our first night's pillow gift was absolutely adorable!  The "bag" couldn't have been more perfect.  I was looking for something to carry around my essentials without having all the bulk.  SU! must have read my mind!
Dawn Griffith, me, Stella McKay

The gray of our bag matched the beautiful jacket I got!!  Look for more alaskan adventures coming soon!  Of course I will share some creativity with you too!!!

.........Until tomorrow!!!!!

Dinner with an amazing woman! / Tracy Arm Fjord - Alaska!!!

It was Day 2/3 of the Stampin' Up! Alaskan cruise and Saturday evening I had the pleasure of dining with Pam Morgan, VP of Demonstrator & Employee Development.  I must admit I have been really nervous about this dinner.  My husband was VERY apprehensive...he was afraid he wouldn't be able to communicate with the SU! folks!  LOL

About 3 weeks before the cruise I received this beautiful invitation in the mail!  Of course I was honored and there was NO WAY I was refusing the invite!  As the days progressed I got more nervous!  What a silly gal!  Pam is incredible!  She has this way of making you feel really at ease!  By the time dinner was over, I felt like Paul and Chris (Pam's husband) were friends for years!  They spent the entire dinner

talking about cars and motorcycles.  The next morning, we were sailing through the Tracy Arm Fjord and Pam and Chris joined us on the rear deck for the most spectacular view of the Sawyer glacier!!!  The snow and ice here in Alaska is BLUE!!!  We are having an AMAZING time and I will give you more details when I return.  I am doing this post from the ship so it is costing me 60 cents per minute!

......... Until ????

UDI Color Challenge #37

Greetings from somewhere in Alaska!  (I actually created this post before I left!) LOL  It is Tuesday and that means it is color challenge day!  Please play along!  Send me your projects using this week's colors; I will share them on the blog!

Our colors are:
  • So Saffron
  • Soft Suede
  • Basic Black
  • Basic Grey
  • Pear Pizzazz

I couldn't resist using the purse's pattern to inspire me as well!  Hope you like it!

This a great card for anyone but I created with a fairly new stamper in mind.  I have met a LOT of new customers lately and I wanted to show everyone that you can create a beautiful card with minimal supplies and layers!
This card was created using Very Vanilla cardstock. I stamped the large flowers with the So Saffron and did the centers with the Basic Gray.  I filled in with the smaller flower image in both Pear Pizzazz and Soft Suede.

Of course it wouldn't be complete without some ribbon.  I used the Basic Black satin ribbon.
The stamp set is called Love & Care.  It is a Level 2 hostess set found in the Summer Mini Catalog.  I'd love for you to be able to get this set for FREE!  Book a workshop with me and this set could be yours!

Fit for a Queen.........

Fit for a Queen...... or at least a great friend or relative who you want to treat as a Queen!  Today is Monday and it is time for another My Digital Studio project!  Although it is one day late, I would like to wish a Happy Birthday to my sister-in-law, Mary!!  Hope your 29th Birthday (again) was awesome!!

In honor of Queen Victoria's birthday, we are created cards that are fit for a queen!  Here is my attempt:

As you all know, pink is my favorite color so I couldn't resist creating a queen card using shades of pink.  I chose Pink Pirouette, Regal Rose, and Rose Red.

Enjoy your Monday....why don't you create a queen card today and send it to me so I can share it with everyone!

.............. Until tomorrow!

Alaska bound!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, today is the day that I have been waiting for for almost a year!!!  As you are reading this, we are on our way to Seattle, Washington to get our cruise ship and sail away to Alaska!!!  I am so excited, I barely slept a wink.  This is one of the trips on my bucket list and the fact that I get to go for FREE, courtesy of Stampin' Up! is absolutely incredible!
I thought I would give you a little itinerary so that you will know where I am each day.  I am not sure what my internet coverage is going to be like so I may not be able to blog live!  Rest assured, I will post via my facebook page at a minimum so at least you will see some of the highlights!

I found the picture below on Celebrity Cruises website and it is one of the sights that I MUST see!  I want to see the whales!! (If I don't, at least I will have this picture! lol)

In addition to whales, Alaska is very much known for all of its wild life.  I thought that today's card sample was a perfect one!  It was created by Sue D. from Moosup, CT.

I noticed that many of the excursion options include visiting the nesting places of the eagles, so I thought I would share this with you today!

Well, gotta go!  Chat soon!

...........Until tomorrow!

Chocolate, Stamping, and a great cause!

Chocolate and stamping go together like milk and cookies!  You just can't have one without the other!  Ask my stamping friends and they will tell you the same!  In addition to it being a yummy treat, these chocolate pops are for a great cause!  A friend and customer, Carol G. from RI, is going to be part of a Breast Cancer Walk in October.  She made these chocolates to assist in her fundraising efforts.  They are ONLY $1.00 each!  If you are interested in helping out a great cause, let me know and I can hook you up!
....now the stamping part!  Look at the adorable tags that Carol made to adorn and tie them closed!  Of course they are pink....my favorite color!

Support breast cancer awareness, get your chocolates for only $1.00!!

Tool Time ...................

Hope you aren't tired of "manly" samples!  I have a lot of requests for them so when I have some that I really like, I must share!

This card was created by Jane Kruzel, one of my downline and she shared it as part of our recent downline swap.  It features the stamp set called Tool Time which can be found in the big Idea Book & Catalog!

I love the addition of the wide striped grossgrain ribbon!  Early Esspresso and Bashful Blue are awesome together.  Thanks for sharing it Jane!

Shades of Blue.....

Happy Monday everyone!  Today's MDS Monday theme is Shades of Blue!  How fitting for me right now!  Next week at this time I will be sailing on the mighty blue Pacific Ocean aboard the Celebrity ship Infinity - en route to Alaska!!!

I know that father's day is coming up pretty quick so I thought I would use this week's theme, an awesome stamp set available in our current Summer Mini Catalog, and the fact that you may need a father's idea to create this adorable and SIMPLE project!!

Although I created mine on My Digital Studio, you can easily create this same card using paper!  My paper colors are Not Quite Navy and Marina Mist.  The patterned papers are both Marina Mist and the ties are done using Not Quite Navy, Marina Mist, Night of Navy, and Bashful Blue!

I thought that since today's theme was Shades of Blue, I would share a little personal something as well.  Paul and I have been very involved in a community service project here in Plainfield.  We have joined the Plainfield Business Association and are part of a group that is organizing a Pride in Plainfield event.  As part of our efforts we were all on a mission to raise enough money to line the streets of our town with American Flags to show support for of those that have fought to make our country a great place to be!  I am proud to say that we have raised most of the funds we needed and contributions are still coming in!  We spent from 1:00 - almost 6:00 pm on Saturday putting up the flags!  Here are a few pics I can share with you!

Me bringing another supply of flags to the crew!

Group effort thanks to the volunteers of Moosup Fire Dept.!

Some of the locations actually had to have
trees cut back before we could hang!

While I have your attention, I want to let you know that blog posts might be a little scattered next week because I am going to be cruising and I am not sure of the internet coverage while on the ship!  I promise I will share everything that happens as soon as I can!

Great friend, Lance!  He climbed that ladder more than 50 times
to hang all of the flags!  Thanks so much!

My handsome hubby!

Wedding Bells

Well I don't know about you, but I LOVE this one!  This bridal gown card was created by Tammy St.Amour and shared as part of our monthly club swap!

The dress was created using the Scallop Circle Die for the Big Shot.  The dress was adorned using the Elegant Lines Embossing folder--it truly make the dress beautiful!  There are a few pearls added as well as some dazzling diamonds to give the final glitz and finish to it!

The pinking hearts border punch is what was used on the right side of the card to dress it up a little further!
