Star Quality and Expressions Thinlits

Happy Black Friday!!!

Are you one of those crazy people out fighting the masses to find that perfect deal?

I used to be!  But I'd rather stay snuggly in my PJ's in my Stampin' studio creating some great new projects!!  Besides, I have my Annual Men's Night to get ready for tonight!  I have the husbands of many of my customer's coming to create a special Christmas project for their wives and my husband is going to treat them to the treats that all men love!  Chili, Chicken Wings, and lots of Beer!!!

To get all of us in the holiday mood, I am sharing my Christmas Star project with you!  I created this card for one of my Christmas card stamp camps.  It is very simple yet elegant!  I used the single stamp called, Christmas Star as well as the Expressions Thinlits, and some Cherry Cobbler Ribbon.  The card itself is from whisper white cardstock and measures 5-1/2" x 8-1/2".

I know that there aren't nearly as many shopping days as usual so I hope that all of you are able to have a productive day!  I really need to get myself together and get everything in order for my male customers tonight!  I can't wait to share that with you all!

Until next time!

Thoroughly Thankful

Are you thankful for many things?  I know that I certainly am!!  I am truly thankful that I have been blessed with a great family and great friends!

I'm sure you are reading this while you are having your morning coffee! I, on the other hand, have already run almost 4 miles this morning in the Thanksgiving Day Panther Run!

The scrapbook pages pictured here were created for my monthly scrapbooking club in October!  The pages are 12 x 12 Early Espresso cardstock.  I used the Thankful Tablescape Kit found on page 18 of the holiday catalog to create this layout!  The only "extra" items I used were the Expressions Thinlits (also in the holiday catalog) to create the Thankful title and some pieces of pool party cardstock for photo mats.  Otherwise, everything else came from the tablescape kit!

Our 4 mile adventure took off at about 7:00 am at a mere 28 degrees Fahrenheit!!  Can you say FREEZING?!  I remember last year on Thanksgiving the weather was almost 60 degrees and we were able to sit outside on the deck and enjoy our appetizers and wine!...not this year!

In addition to sharing my "Thankful" scrapbooking layout with you all, I couldn't resist sharing a couple of other projects with you!  The card pictured here to the left was done by Liz S.  The card base is soft suede cardstock.  She used the large scallop square die and quartered them to make 4 "collars".  Placing them on a slant and adding a bit of basic black taffeta ribbon makes for a great pilgrim!
To the right is a great little package of treats!  These were created by Brenda D., one of my downline!  These would be great to sit on each person's plate to decorate the table and also to be sure that everyone gets some sort of dessert!

I hope that you have been inspired today with the "Thankful" themed items and that you have the opportunity to share this special day with those that are close to you!  I know how truly grateful I am for each and every one of you!  Thank you so much for your loyalty and business and I wish you all a VERY Happy  Thanksgiving!

Vintage Birthday

I am calling this my vintage birthday card...but not vintage because of my age!  lol Vintage because of the fabulous look!

Photos do NOT do this card justice!  You really have to see it to appreciate the beauty and the detail in it!  I had to show you a close up of the flowers that were created using the linen thread from the Stampin' Up! idea book and catalog!  The addition of these flowers sent this card totally over the top!

The card base is made from Very Vanilla card stock.  The edge was embossed with our Delicate Designs embossing folder and then sponged with marina mist and crumb cake ink!

There are a couple of layers of DSP - the pattern is now retired.  Under one of the DSP layers is a paper doily cut from the Paper Doily Sizzlit found in the Idea Book & Catalog on Page 188.  It too was sponged with the marina mist and crumb cake inks.  This card was created by the very talented Margaret from Canterbury, CT!

It definitely made me feel special that she chose me to send it to!

I needed to take a break from the Thanksgiving and Christmas posts to finally share a project that I did recently to celebrate the upcoming birth of one of my customer's first baby!!  How exciting!

Of course, not knowing if she is having a boy or a girl (my instinct is boy--however, I wasn't feeling courageous enough to create in blue) I decided to create a birth announcement using our Pistachio Pudding and Basic Black card stock!

I really like how they came out!  She was totally surprised that our club group would forgo their normal projects to help make a dozen of these birth announcements just for her!
Of course, what is a baby shower without food and gifts?!!

We enjoyed some great food and each other's company to share the joy that this gal is going to be celebrating very soon!  She is actually due on Thanksgiving day.  I am hoping that she gets to enjoy her turkey dinner and plenty of dessert and that he or she waits until the day after!  lol

Best of luck to Jennifer and her new family!!

Button pumpkins????

Looking for a great card to say thank you to that special person or family that invited you to Thanksgiving dinner?

Well look no further!  This great project was created by one of my fabulous customers here in Moosup, CT!  I love the way she used the Button Embosslit to create these adorable pumpkins!

The card base and the pumpkins are cut from pumpkin pie cardstock.  Although the background paper used on this project is no longer available, I could suggest a few others for you to use in its place.  I would suggest either Sweater Weather - Item #132184 - $10.95 from our Holiday Mini catalog or perhaps the Natural Composition Specialty Paper - Item #126917 - $12.95 or the Epic Day This and That collection - Item #130814 - $10.95.

What better way to say thank you than with a hand made card?!!

Classic Pick Ups - Something for the man in your life......

Do you ever get enough ideas to create a great project for a special man in your life?

I know I don't!  This one is so quick and easy it is a sin!  lol

For those of you that don't know, one night a month (as if I don't have enough to do - lol), I waitress at our local veteran's club for a steak dinner.  During September's dinner I think I slighted one of the guys.  I was so worried I just had to create a special card for him to say I was sorry!

When he arrived for October's dinner, on his dinner plate was this hand-stamped "So Sorry" card made just for him.  The smile on his face was priceless and I knew that I had done the right thing!  He immediately shared it with all of the other guys at this table and then put the card in his shirt pocket for safe keeping!

The color combo is Very Vanilla, Marina Mist, and Early Espresso.  I used a bit of our watercolor paper and stamped my image with Staz-On ink so that I could use a blender pen and ink to water color the image.  I finished it off by using the Argyle Embossing Folder and a bit of our Natural ribbon.

Got a man in your life that you need to say sorry to or happy birthday to?  This is a great project for you!

.......... Until next time!

A bit of Christmas Decor

I thought I would share the latest in my Banner Club creations!

On October 30th my club members all got to create this fabulous holiday home decor for their very own!

Although I am busy creating our next one, I thought I would share this one with plenty of time for you to recreate it if you wanted!

These banners are the GREATEST kit that Stampin' Up! has ever offered us!  I have an entire year's worth of banners planned for my group!

The banner kit and refill kit are available in our Holiday Mini Catalog until January 4th.  I am certainly hoping that they will be a carry over item into the next catalog; however, you can't be sure!  I am buying them like crazy to stock up so that I have enough for my girls to make their 12+ banners!

I used cherry cobbler, gumball green, and old olive on this project!  The medallions were made using our Season of Style DSP and my Simply Scored tool.  I scored 1" x 12" strips every 1/2" in order to make a medallion just the right size to nestle inside of one of our paper doilies!

I used the Christmas ornament stamp set from last Christmas as well as the Ornament Framelits which are still available!

Want to get in our a banner club?  If your answer is yes, contact me ASAP and I would be thrilled to start another group!

............ Until next time!

Truly Grateful

With the start of November, it only seems right to share what we are thankful and grateful for, doesn't it?!

For me, I am most grateful for the small but incredible little family that I have!  Because my family is so small, I am also VERY grateful for all of the incredible friends that I have made thanks to the relationships built in my Stampin' Up! business!

A couple of weeks ago I had a special visit from my friend Melanie from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada!  She and I met on the Stampin' Up! demonstrator website about 7 years ago, were roommates at convention that year and have remained friends ever since!  She came to the states for a medical conference here on the East Coast and planned in a couple of extra days for a visit with her CT Stamping Connections!!   We spent one day doing some retail therapy and one full day in the studio for some stamping therapy!  During our day we created this card with our other friend Judy for her to use for her stamp club.

  • Cardstock - crushed curry, soft suede, very vanilla, crumb cake
  • Ink - crumb cake, crushed curry, early espresso
  • Accessories - Burlap ribbon, Scallop Oval Punch, Large Oval Punch, Scallop circle punch, 1-3/8" circle punch
  • Stamps - Truly Grateful - from our Holiday Mini Catalog!
So, what are you grateful for?   I would LOVE for you to share your thoughts here on the blog for all of us to see!

.....Until next time!
